2025 NCAA DIII Men’s Ice Hockey Committee selects championship field

DIII men's ice hockey: 2025 selection show

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Committee announced today the field of 14 teams for the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship.

Ten conferences have been awarded an automatic qualification. The remaining four teams were selected at-large by the committee.

The championship playoff format involves six first-round games, March 15 and four quarterfinal games, March 22 that are played on the campuses of the participating institutions. All games in the championship are single elimination. The host for the championship semi-final and finals will be confirmed Saturday night, March 22 after the conclusion of the quarterfinal games.

Conferences receiving automatic qualification are:

  • Conference of New England | Curry (24-3)
  • Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference | Fitchburg St. (13-12-1)
  • Middle Atlantic Conference | Stevenson (18-7-2)
  • Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference | Gustavus Adolphus (16-9-2)
  • New England Hockey Conference | Hobart (26-1-1)
  • New England Small College Athletic Conference | Hamilton (20-6-1)
  • Northern Collegiate Hockey Association | St. Norbert (23-5-1)
  • State University of New York Athletic Conference | Oswego St. (16-8-3)
  • United Collegiate Hockey Conference | SUNY Geneseo (22-4-1) 
  • Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference | Wis.-Eau Claire (14-15-1)

Aurora (23-4-1), U of New England (18-7-1), Trine (20-6-2) and Utica (21-4-2) enter the field as the four at-large selections.

In 2024, Hobart claimed back-to-back national titles with a 2-0 win over Trinity (Connecticut) at the Koeppel Community Sports Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
